چکیده

It is envisaged that the next generation of civil aero-engines will employ high bypass ratios to lower specific thrust and improve propulsive efficiency. This trend likely be accompanied with integration compact nacelle exhausts in podded under-wing installation positions are close coupled airframe. leads requirement for a comprehensive methodology able predict aerodynamic performance combined airframe-engine architectures. paper presents novel drag accounting approach analysis integrated systems. Measured Engine Installation Effects of Four Civil Transport Airplanes

INTRODUCTION The Federal Aviation Administration's Integrated Noise Model (INM) is one of the primary tools for land use planning around airports [1]. The INM currently calculates airplane noise lateral attenuation using the methods contained in the Society of Automotive Engineer's Aerospace Information Report No. 1751 (SAE AIR 1751) [2]. Researchers have noted that improved lateral attenuation...

Characteristics of vortex formation and thrust performance in drag-based paddling propulsion.

Several characteristics of drag-based paddling propulsion are studied with a simple mechanical model and a measurement technique for mapping three-dimensional flow fields. In drag-based propulsion, the temporal change of the vortex strength is an important parameter in the relationship between vortex formation and thrust generation. Our results indicate that spanwise flow behind the paddling pr...

Modeling of a Turbofan Engine with Ice Crystal Ingestion in the Nasa Propulsion System Laboratory

The main focus of this study is to apply a computational tool for the flow analysis of the turbine engine that has been tested with ice crystal ingestion in the Propulsion Systems Laboratory (PSL) at NASA Glenn Research Center. The PSL has been used to test a highly instrumented Honeywell ALF502R-5A (LF11) turbofan engine at simulated altitude operating conditions. Test data analysis with an en...

Sudden change detection in turbofan engine behavior

Turbofan engines generate a lot of data for maintenance purpose. During each flight the aircraft send information to the ground using small messages. On those messages one can find a description of the engine behavior (shaft speed, oil temperature, pressures, etc.) and the observation context (air temperature, aircraft attitude, altitude, etc.). Mainly those signals are used for trend analysis ...

Online Normalization Algorithm for Engine Turbofan Monitoring

To understand the behavior of a turbofan engine, one first needs to deal with the variety of data acquisition contexts. Each time a set of measurements is acquired, and such set may account for tens of parameters, the aircraft evolves in a specific flight mode. A diagnostic of the engine behavior models the observations and tests if anything appears as expected. A model of the engine measuremen...
